Jennifer Bloomfield-Montgomery - Let it Burn! How Dare you Drive Around Tahoe!

That’s right – the Sierra Club, the home of lawsuits preventing forest clearing and thinning has brought us their vision for the 5th Sup district – Traffic Congestion and Forest Fires.

Her supporters descended upon this blog with at least 7 comments of similar construction and someone who posted a U-Tube video link.

I thank them all for visiting, but from looking at the chief objections of their supporters – it looks like a chronic case of NIMBY. Not in my Back Yard…

So Rocklin is not the only place where the existing residents have decided to fight growth. People die in an alarming rate on our freeways today because in the 1970’s Jerry Brown torpedoed all freeway construction thinking that people would not come to California.

Jerry Brown should have tried to run our budget like Perata and Nunez in addition to stopping road construction, then he’d have been able to stop California’s growth – because our population has grown 250% since then and has only gone backwards recently with out of control spending.

The point being is Bloomfield-Montgomery’s people have hung their hats on stopping progress…

It is going to make a fun next four months.

Gavin Newsome’s dad is going to be digging for some more of his money to keep the Montgomery Freight Train Moving.

Why do we need a New City Council in Rocklin Again? (5th Best place to raise a family)

Check this Out -

Parents Magazine Ranks Rocklin #5 in USA

The schools are outstanding – 9 of 13 have been named California Distinguished Schools – and the streets are safe. Brian boasts about Rocklin’s three B’s: barbecue, ball games and, referring to the panoramic view of the Sierra Nevada mountains, beauty. “The weather’s great, the people friendly,” he says. “All the good things you think about in a town you’ll find right here.”

While there is absolutely no excuse for the Teacher’s Union Moonbats on the Rocklin School Board to torp the charter of the Rocklin Academy… look at the rest of this article.

The $8000 a year they refer to is for Placer Legacy payments – a measure approved by a huge majority of the voters.

Why do we need to change the City Council when they are getting noticed nationally for how good a Place to live that Rocklin is?

I have just decided that my wife and I are buying a house in Rocklin. It looks like there are plenty of trails to walk the pet rat on.

I think that the folks that want to unseat the incumbent members of the Rocklin City Council are going to have a hard time making their case.

If you ask this blogger – I think we are looking at fighting Measure H all over again in November. Those opposing are going to have to justify NIMBY-ism and why people should vote against growth… There won’t be a split primary to depress turnout either.

My prediction is that Storey, Magnusen and Hill we be re-elected. This story has effectively ended that campaign.

Rocklin City Council Lowers Spending

The Sacramento Bee Story is posted in its’ entirety…

The Link to the Story

ROCKLIN – Expecting a slow economic recovery, city officials have sliced away at the 2008-09 budget, freezing vacant positions and cutting expenses.

On Monday, staff members presented the City Council with proposed amendments to the $61.3 million spending plan approved last year as part of a two-year budget.

Chief Financial Officer Kim Sarkovich said community development revenue was projected to take a $1.8 million hit this year. In addition, property taxes are projected to drop by $326,000, while sales tax revenue is expected to fall by $889,000.

Although the approved budget reflected a slowdown in construction and consumer spending, officials had not anticipated such a dramatic, broad economic decline.

The council probably will consider the proposed amendments at its Aug. 12 meeting.

– Jennifer K. Morita

Now if only the nimrods in the State Legislature would do the same… we’d have a state budget completed.

Letter Writer Thanks Kranz for Supporting Public Safety

This was a LTE in the Sierra Sun

My Turn: Protecting a neighborhood’s sanctity

By Jerry Dinzes, On behalf of so many in the community: Thank You Supervisor Bruce Kranz and the six other Tahoe Regional Planning Agency board members who agreed that the three-lane alternative had too many negative consequences. It would be the epitome of poor planning to burden a residential community with through traffic intended for State Route 28, yet thousands of vehicles were nearly diverted into the highly pedestrianized Kings Beach neighborhood, which is adjacent to the commercial corridor (SR 28).

Proponents of the lane reduction have accused me of fear mongering for bringing this issue to the table, but this is, in my mind, the most important issue at stake. My neighborhood doesn’t want — and doesn’t deserve — this burden, which the county traffic consultant claims will occur on around 100 days of the summer.

Those who have raised families along our residential roadways, and those who have bought into hearty mortgages, thank you for protecting their neighborhood’s sanctity. Thank you for not being fooled at the Sierra Businesses Council’s claim that the majority of Kings Beach wanted the hybrid alternative.

The SBC’s claim is unjust and non-representative of the community. After inviting citizens from across the Truckee and North Shore region to an SBC workshop, the council was able to get approximately 141 citizens to show a preference towards the lane reduction. In 2000, the U.S. consensus reveals that Kings Beach had a population of 4,037. To claim a majority would require 2019 Kings Beach residents, and not a 141 from Truckee-Tahoe at large.

However, the SBC seemed not as concerned with due process, as they were with advocating a particular position. This is apparent in their decision to place an avid “three-laner” in charge as one of the program directors running the workshops and compiling for informational handouts.

Bruce Kranz Op-ed Sweepstakes

Will this get printed by the local Media?

Don't hold your breath...

Recently, I voted against spending $45 million to make traffic worse in Kings Beach in Tahoe. I do not believe we need more traffic gridlock in the Tahoe region or anywhere in Placer County. Some are very unhappy about this vote, focusing their entire effort against me in a letter writing campaign.  Many of the letters are organized, word for word.

PCRA BLOG: Tom McClintock Update - Rockstar Reception in Lincoln

Rumors of McClintock’s disappearance are grossly exaggerated.

As the noose of Gay Marriage, $5 a gallon Gas and wildfires tighten around the Democrats… Charlie Brown and Tom McClintock were part of separate displays in Lincoln.

The Bay-Area transplants who moved to Lincoln (and haven’t figured out that their fellow liberals made a mess of the Bay Area) made the bulk of Colonel Klink’s audience. As the Tin Soldier received tepid response…

McClintock was accompanied by a few local elected officials and volunteers (including Ken Campbell). My friend Ron Sherrod towed Bob Backus’ now-famous trailer through the parade route.

While people clapped for Brown, they cheered for McClintock. Apparently, the people of Lincoln know who their next Congressman is.

Biofuels lead to starvation

Eco-Nazis sue to stop forest clearing – people’s lives are destroyed, the air is filled with smoke.

Eco-Nazis buy politicians with endorsements and campaign cash (Republican Mainstreet Partnership / Democrats) no Oil is Drilled, No refineries built, Gas hits $5 a gallon.

Now, the latest… Food riots in Third-World Countries.

This article was written by the Guardian – an extreme leftist publication from England. The intent of the article was to report a “leaked” report from the World Bank.

The object here was to slap the Bush Administration around, but in this case… the Bush Administration did not hand the media the hammer. In their zeal to make Bush look bad again – they set their friends in the Eco movement on fire.

You see – Ethanol production and other green fuels use Corn and Maize.

An excerpt from the article:

“Rapid income growth in developing countries has not led to large increases in global grain consumption and was not a major factor responsible for the large price increases,” the report said.

Droughts in Australia have also not had a significant impact, it added. Instead, European and US drives for greater use of biofuels has had the biggest effect.

The European Union has mooted using biofuels for up to 10 percent of all transport fuels by 2020 as part of an increase in use of renewable energy.

Translation – Green fuels make people starve.

Just another way the Eco-Movement screws the little guy.

Rocklin Update - Mark Klang is all over the City Council

First off he tells us why we should toss the incumbents out of the Rocklin City Council

An excerpt caught my attention: For the record, Councilman Scott Yuill is an advisor for the WSCA. He would not even voice his support for the school when the WSCA leadership team presented their charter to the Rocklin School Board. Why bother to be an advisor when you will not support the cause? Is Mr. Yuill trying to build his resume for a higher office? Mr. Yuill has been on the council for less than 2 years and he is already out of touch with people of Rocklin.

The Rocklin school board shot down a charter from the organization that is running the best-performing school in Placer County. Scott Yuill, the newest Rocklin City Councilmember did nothing, even though he is an advisor to the WSCA – the charter that got derailed.

Given that Yuill endorsed Ose after refusing to support Doolittle – could Yuill’s desire to play both sides be catching up to him quickly after less than 2 years in office?

Then Klang follows up on the ‘Good Ol Boy’s Network’ theme.

For the record – this blogger counts Kathy Lund as a personal friend. While Lund is not up for re-election this time around, I can see no reason why she deserves the same scorn that Yuill and Brett Storey (both actively campaigned for Ose) deserve.

Of note – George Magnussen (sp?) was a leader in the failed recall of Klein and Simmons.

File this under the category of small world – Lund, Klein and Simmons have all been PCRA endorsed in the past.

Finally – with all due respect to Mark Klang (also a friend) given that the opponents to the incumbents appear to be a bunch of disgruntled Democrats that tried to stop Clover Valley’s development (that was approved years ago)...

Someone had better come up with some good candidates and reasons before they will get serious consideration for their bid to unseat “the good old boys”.

I am sure we have not heard the end – be sure to keep an eye on Better Rocklin

Forest Fires - Democrat Policies Mess Over the "Little Guy"

My wife and I were walking on the American River last night and saw 4 C-130 tanker planes in the Air – two landing, two taking off to go to Big Sur. I thought to myself how much does this cost and why are these fires getting progressively worse?

Almost every week the local media has another story about an agency withdrawing or delaying thinning or clearing forests.

Why? The Sierra Club and their friends appeal any and every attempt to manage forests by anyone.

Every year the wildfires get worse – every year the Sierra Club continues to fight efforts to manage the forests while more and more acres of their vaunted forests burn.

How can soot and ashes in the air be good for the animals and trees they love?

Every year – Democrats covet the Sierra Club endorsement.

Jennifer Bloomfield-Montgomery has a Sierra Club Endorsement that she is proud of.

When forests burn, we inhale smoke – tourism is damaged, livelihoods and homes burn. This is the legacy of the Sierra Club and their Liberal Democrat endorsees.

All the while the little guy pays the taxes that fund firefighting. All the while the little guy breathes the smoke. All the while the little guy watches helplessly as raging wildfires close roads, stop business and destroy property.

Lessons for Placer County Local Elected Officials - Message from Placer CRA President George Park, Jr.

By now our local officials have had a few weeks to mull over the crushing defeat they were handed by the electorate in Placer County and the 4th congressional district. Something tells me that the will of the people has not quite sunk in for our good friends.

Perhaps they did not get the message that this election sent loud and clear: Republicans want a clear unambiguous ideological conservative that will take the Republican Party back to the principals of Ronald Reagan. The voters of Placer County and the 4th CD rejected the vision of the status quo that Doug Ose and our local elected officials put forth. Republican voters rejected the notion that Washington DC is like a giant ATM machine from which we can get all the monies we need to fix local problems. The voters know intuitively that the system in Washington DC is broken and needs to be fixed. The voters know that Washington DC needs a man like Tom McClintock to join with like minded representatives from all over the country to restore our government to fiscal sanity.

Voters in Placer County are sick and tired of continuously being asked to reach into their pockets for one “good government” funding scheme after another. It is time our local officials got the message the era of big government is over. The era of small government has arrived. It is time for government to shrink in size. The burdens being placed on the tax payers dictate that all levels of government should go on a diet.

Doug Ose Spent 6.2 Million dollars in his bid to purchase the 4th CD nomination, and was doomed from the beginning thanks to his “I can deliver all the goodies you will ever need” approach. The people of the district said “no thanks” and sent him packing by 15% margin. McClintock was outspent by a 6-1 margin and won a resounding victory.

It is time that our local friends understand that Tom McClintock’s victory on June 3rd was a triumph of ideology. A traditional conservative triumphed over “pragmatic moderate”. I look forward to our local elected friends understanding the will of the people and charting a new course for Placer County’s future. I also look forward to our local elected friends endorsing our nominee Tom McClintock and working hard to help defeat Charlie Brown. I will be by their sides as we walk the precincts and call from the phone banks this fall.

Sue Horne Update - Wants her old job back!? (Spreading Goodwill in Northern California)

Usually after an election, all the parties move on and some just disappear. Not Sue Horne.

Attacks Nevada County Central Committee

Multiple accounts to this blogger indicated that Sue Horne attended the June meeting of the Nevada County Republican Central Committee. At that meeting – Horne shared with the Committee members that her loss was due to the actions of the Butte County Republican Central Committee… If only the Nevada County GOP would have supported her…

Horne’s associate Dottie Rae Souter went further – indicating that the election result was an embarrasment for the Nevada GOP Committee and that “there would be consequences”.

Horne should have thought this through all the years she forgot to write checks to the Nevada GOP.

Did She or Didn’t She!?

According to reliable sources in Nevada County, Sue Horne is pondering her options for the future. In addition to threatening the Nevada GOP Committee – she has apparently contacted Alan Kilborne about backing out of the race for her soon to be vacated supervisor seat.

You see, Horne had to vacate her seat as supervisor to run against Dan Logue. Now that she lost – she is looking for a job – however, the same sources say that Horne does not want a new job, just her old one back.

Did Horne really call Kilborne? My sources say yes.

Was it for the money?

Alan Kilborne is already in to the race about $15,000 – he was hand-picked by Horne to run in her place. (Apparently, the other supes missed the memo as they have endorsed the other candidate.) Horne as you recall, believed in her Assembly campaign so much that she withdrew her $100,000 “loan” from her campaign account in its’ entirety without spending any of it.

Perhaps Horne wants to reap the reward of the 36 percent pay raise she and her fellow supervisors voted themselves? They are slated to go from $39,446 to $53,800 with benefits – Placer’s supers are bargain basement at $30K a piece without benefits.

Ambition???

Does Sue want to run for Assembly again? $53,800 is not worth the BS that comes with holding office…

Maybe David Reade needs another venue to ply his trade – remember, the Chico Enterpirse Record on 6/8/2008 – when they reviewed Horne’s campaign wrote, “The two candidates in our area with the most negative mailers and advertisements both lost…Republican Sue Horne launched a full-court assault on Dan Logue in the 3rd District race for state Assembly. Voters rejected the nasty tone. Logue won by 9 percent.”

The other negative campaign they referenced… you know.

Say it ain’t so

That’s what the little kid reportedly said to shoeless Joe Jackson after Jackson got banned from baseball for betting.

Some have been hyper-critical of this blogger for the way I have treated Sue Horne in the past. However, I think that if true, what Horne is doing currently validates any criticism I have made of her in the past.

She has already been recognized for running the dirtiest campaign in Northern California – and that’s saying something. Now, she is trying to talk a man out of his $15,000 investment so she can run as a write-in against an opponent supported by her fellow colleagues.

I think there are some textbooks I read in college that explain this behavior…

Kranz Responds to Auburn Journal Hatchet Job

Guest columnist: Hit piece by Montgomery staffer contained inaccuracies

By Bruce Kranz, District 5 Supervisor

On June 14, the Auburn Journal printed a column written by my opponent’s campaign staff that did not tell the whole truth about my record as county supervisor.

The author was a paid consultant to my opponent, Jennifer Montgomery. Yet Rob Haswell failed to identify himself as such in the column. Instead, Montgomery’s campaign penned a political hit piece that masqueraded as the opinion of an objective observer.

Mr. Haswell’s deceitful approach should concern voters who care about the integrity of public officials and their campaigns.

Not surprisingly, Ms. Montgomery’s staffer paints an intentionally inaccurate picture as to how Michelle Ollar Burris came to be a planning commissioner and how I came to remove her.

By way of background, I did appoint Ms. Burris to the planning commission. She knew a lot about land use, had training in real estate and was willing to devote long hours to county government with minimal compensation.

Before the questions as to whether Ms. Burris may have illegally split lots as a private citizen came to light, she proved to be inquisitive regarding complaints about the performance of the planning department staff. Like me, she was sensitive to delays and the poor treatment of ordinary citizens seeking to do something with their private property. She clearly rattled some staff and pushed staff to pay more attention to private property rights.

Yet, it is possible she may also have violated the law as a private citizen — not in her capacity as a planning commissioner.

In late 2006, an anonymous group filed a complaint with the Placer County grand jury stating that Ms. Burris had illegally subdivided property by failing to follow the procedures laid out in county law. For two years no responsible authority took the allegations against Ms. Burris seriously. In fact, the Placer County Counsel, Placer County District Attorney, and the Placer County grand jury took no action.

As late as May 27, 2007, Planning Director Michael Johnson, saw “No red flags” in Michelle’s land transactions.

After a Sacramento Bee reporter wrote a story alleging wrong-doing by Ms. Burris, I became gravely concerned that there might be some truth to the allegations. Thus, I supported an extensive investigation that began on May 30, 2007. Before the investigation was completed, I realized that the controversy around Ms. Burris was distracting county government. I then led the effort to replace a resisting Ms. Burris with another planning commissioner.

During Ms. Burris’ tenure, I never acquired any intimate knowledge of Ms. Burris’s personal business, let alone the particulars of her land transactions, nor over time, did County Counsel, the District Attorney and the grand jury.

It would take an expert, Richard Crabtree, nearly six months (May to November 2007) to understand her seven years of property transactions that began five years before I took office.

As of this writing no criminal charges have been filed against Ms. Burris. A civil lawsuit has been filed to determine if she violated any laws and owes the county any money for alleged wrong doings. In their effort to paint as unflattering a picture as possible, Ms. Montgomery’s campaign did not tell voters that I removed Ms. Burris from the planning commission or that I supported the civil suit to determine if she had violated the law and might owe the county money.

Please take the time to look at my entire record on this subject and others. Hopefully, you weren’t fooled by a political hit piece masquerading as an independent source of information.

Jennifer Bloomfield-Montgomery Endorsed by the Sierra Club

You knew this was coming… the folks that bring us environmental lawsuits to prevent forest thinning and debris removal… and attempting to return us to the stone age.

Montgomery has already come out against much-needed road improvements in the Kings Beach-Tahoe City-Truckee Area. Apparently, she would rather have idling cars belching pollution and people using residential streets to get around than the main thoroughfare.

As to the Sierra Club – they have a history of placing insects over people… Looks like they and Montgomery enjoys inhaling smoke and looking at taillights… (they’d all probably rather ban tourism from Tahoe altogether.)

Below is the email that the Sierra Club sent out – I had to edit it, but it is 98% complete.

Sierra Club Supporter,

I think you know how important this election is for Placer County. So much of what we have struggled for over the years hangs in the balance. What happens in the race in Supervisorial District 5 will decide the direction of the county for years to come. Will the big influx of developer money pave the way for a Bruce Kranz victory over Jennifer Montgomery in November? Will sprawl despoil the pristine beauty of Donner Summit? Do we face a future of sprawl from Roseville to Auburn and beyond? Are we ready to have a Supervisor who truly cares and will represent both sides of the poorly gerrymandered Placer County?

It really depends on whether you and I are willing to step up.

We usually don’t ask for money, but the future of the place where we live is at stake. While Jennifer Montgomery is taking no money from big developers that is exactly where Bruce Kranz is getting his financial backing. As we approach the election in November, Jennifer must be able to get her message out and respond to relentless attacks in the form of Kranz’s slick mailers.

With the June 30th Campaign Finance Reporting deadline at hand, this is an especially critical time to make a contribution to the Montgomery for Supervisor campaign, because Jennifer needs to show that she has the grassroots support and the financial muscle to compete with a Kranz campaign that is funded by powerful development interests.

If you think this county should stay a livable place and not a suburb of Sacramento, please make a contribution toward electing Jennifer Montgomery for supervisor. You can donate online at www.lettahoeburndowntotheground.org, or write a check to “Montgomery for Supervisor” and send it to Montgomery for Supervisor, San Francisco, CA 95728.

Thank you,

Tahoe Area Sierra Club

Lower Auto Insurance Rates? Stopping a Trash Rate Increase? (Oh, those RINO Placer Supes)

Last year there were three evil $1 per car fee/taxes proposed by Sherrif Ed Bonner and the Placer County Sherrif’s department. Around the same time was a debate about Landfill tipping fees.

To start off, the RINO supervisors voted to reduce the tipping fees at the landfill. As a result of the reduction that averaged $11 per person – it has cancelled almost all of the effect of increased costs of diesel fuel. Despite diesel fuel going up some 30%, trash collection fees have only gone up an average of $1.37 per address in Placer County.

That alone is a good case for the re-election of Bruce Kranz and Kirk Uhler. I like RINO’s like that.

Keep Reading about Placer County's Supervisors
